Irma M. Cooper Opera Columbus International Vocal Competition
is open to professional and pre-professional singers who
have completed or are engaged in completing a course of study
in preparation for a career on the operatic stage. To be
eligible, singers must be between the ages of 19 and 35 as of
the finals (March 19 & 20, 2005) and cannot have sung a
principal role with an OPERA America Budget Level I company or
its international equivalent.
Applications will be available in September 2004 and all
completed applications must be postmarked by January 3, 2005.
The nonrefundable application fee is $50 (U.S.). All
application materials and recordings become the property of
Opera Columbus.

The Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra, now in its 32nd
year, will hold auditions for Prelude Strings and PYSO on
September 18th, 19st, 25th and 26th for the 2004-05 season.
Membership is open to students in Grades 6-9, who are involved
in their school music programs and studying with private
teachers. Based upon auditions, musicians will be placed in
Prelude Strings or the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra. To

scheduled April 22 and 23 at the Kravis Center's Rinker
Playhouse. The winners perform on stage in a special
concert on Sunday, April 25, 2004 at the Kravis Center.

San Francisco Lyric Opera will hold auditions at
the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco for their 2004
season: Don Giovanni (Apr 2,4, 9 & 10), Rigoletto
(Sept 24, 25, Oct 1 & 3) and La Cenerentola (Dec 3,4,
10 & 12). All productions in original languages; fully staged
with a small orchestra and supertitles. Evening and weekend
rehearsals in San Francisco. So singers must be able to stay
within Bay area (for 6 weeks prior to production) to attend
rehearsals as they are scheduled. All artists paid for

Opera Colorado 2004 Outreach Ensemble Program will hold
auditions in NYC and Denver in September, 2003. Six
singers and one coach accompanist will be contracted for a
five-month residency, January through May, and will receive a
$1600 monthly stipend ($2000 for pianist). Artists are responsible for their own
transportation and housing while in Denver.

Eleventh annual Friedrich Schorr Memorial Performance Prize in Voice International
Competition, sponsored by Hat City Music Theater, Danbury, Connecticut. Honoring the memory of Friedrich Schorr, the great Wagnerian baritone.
$10,000 in performance prizes and stipends will be awarded as a result of the competition which is used to cast staged productions with orchestra of Hansel & Gretel, Cosi Fan Tutte, Bon Appetit and La Pizza Con Funghi as well as other performances during Hat City Music Theater's '02-'03 season. The Townsend Opera Players will be holding its 15th annual competition for the
Kristina Townsend Memorial Award on Apr 27 beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Little Opera Hall at 611 H Street, Modesto. Appl deadline is Apr 22. There is a non-refundable $10 appl fee.
