- The Philharmonic Society of Orange County presents a special 24-hour performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with 9Beet Stretch: A Night at the Museum held at the Orange County Museum of Art. The performance begins on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at noon and continues until Sunday, May 4, 2008, at noon.

Realized at the NOTAM sound production in Oslo, 9BeetStretch is a musical composition and soundscape conceived and implemented by Norwegian sound artist Leif Inge. The performance will continue without pauses between movements. The estimated timings for the movements are as follows: Movement #1 (Saturday, 12:00pm – 5:30pm); Movement #2 (Saturday, 5:30pm – 10:35pm); Movement #3 (Saturday, 10:35pm - 3:45am); and Movement #4 “Ode to Joy” (Sunday, 3:45am – 12:00pm).

Attendees are encouraged to spend the night at the museum. Lounge furniture will be provided. Bring your own blankets and pillows. Light refreshments are available for purchase. Regular admission prices will apply during normal museum hours: $10/adults, $8 students (with ID) and seniors. For more information, call (949) 553-2422 or visit www.PhilharmonicSociety.org.

May 10, 2008 - Paulist Scholars Chamber Choir. James Smith, guitar. Luke McEndarfer, conductor.  Federico Garcia Lorca's haunting collection of

Baroque-style poems could not have been put to a better setting than that of Castelnuovo-Tedesco's Romancero Gitano—a thrilling work that tells of the lives of the Spanish gypsies, scored for classical guitar and chorus. Hear the fiery passion of internationally renowned guitarist James Smith along with the trademark purity of the Paulist Scholars, as they sing this magnificent piece, paired with another gem of the choral repertoire: Morten Lauridsen's Madrigali, hailed by the Los Angeles Times as "stunningly crafted." As if the concert could not get any more exciting, we will close with the world premier performance of the guitar version of Morten Lauridsen's choral hit, Dirait-on. Simply too hot to miss!

Where: Corpus Christi Church, 880 Toyopa Drive Pacific Palisades, CA 90272 (near the corner of Sunset and Caray)
